Key West party! Lobsterfest celebrates the season

Key West doesn’t need an excuse to host a party.

So it should come as no surprise the island would roll out the red carpet this weekend to celebrate the opening of spiny lobster season.

The party kicks off Friday at sunset as revelers course their way up Duval Street in the Duval Crawl after the nightly sunset celebration at Mallory Square.

On Saturday, a four-block stretch of Lower Duval Street will be closed for a street fair and free concert that showcases several Key West island-music artists.

In addition to the music, booths lining Duval Street will feature Key West culinary specialties (including dishes featuring Key West’s famous pink shrimp and Florida spiny lobster.)

The festival wraps up on Sunday with a “decadent” lobster brunch ($55.95/person) at the Key West Marriott Beachside, 3841 N. Roosevelt Blvd. Reservations required. (305) 296-8100

Purchase your Duval Crawl lanyard and Lobsterfest souvenir T-shirt at Rick’s and Durty Harry’s Entertainment Complex (202 Duval Street).
