Krunch (Andrew Linn) and WoodCutter (Michael Monies) added some drama to the race on the last day when their 11-foot, 11-inch “Scamp” was blown into skinny water and a mud bank in high winds six miles off Flamingo. After spending more than 24 hours in the mud, they were finally rescued by fellow WaterTribe members in kayaks with park rangers standing by two miles away. (The rangers were unable to get near the boat). It was unknown when the Scamp would be removed. Both sailors were reported safe. (Photo of Scamp at Fort Desoto by Chekika)
